Andover Ladies 2nd XI 3 Eastleigh Ladies 4
Andover ladies did not deserve to lose this match against Eastleigh with two late goals costing them the match. The ladies didn’t start well and soon found themselves 2 0 down, but a change in the system changed their fortunes and they quickly became the better side. Just seconds before half time Andover pulled a goal back from a short corner, a fierce strike from Louise Cuff gave the keeper no chance.
Bouyed by this they started the second half in the same positive way and soon equalised. Sally Prior collected the ball in front of goal and calmly slotted home after rounding the keeper. Andover were on top and when they scored a third there looked like being only one winner. A fine run from Jacqui West set up Janette Griffiths Jones who slotted home from close range. Andover began to tire with only 11 players allowing Eastleigh back into the game and two late goals cost Andover something from the match which they really did deserve.
Andover can take great credit for their contribution to this match. They were always a threat going forward and created several more goal scoring opportunities. With a full squad available in a few weeks time they should go from strength to strength.
