Haslemere Ladies 2nd XI 0 Andover Ladies 2nd XI 2
Andover ladies 2's started the second half of the season in style as they beat a determined Haslemere side who never gave up. The ladies had to work very hard from start to finish and this they did. They showed grit, determination and a fantastic team spirit to get the win.
Haslemere started the brighter putting the Andover defence under pressure but the organised defensive trio of Bex Milton, Amie Bridge and Suzie Oostendorp kept their chances to a minimum. Andover managed some sustained pressure themselves and took the lead midway through the first half. A fine run and shot from Jacqui West saw the ball bounce to Carley Lambert whose excellent shot gave the keeper no chance. Andover could have made it two but Louise Cuff just failed to connect from a cross when in front of goal. A tired Andover at half time knew they had to work just as hard in the second half. Katie Evans had a superb game in midfield and the forward line linked up well with the rest of the team. Andover won the ball deep into their own half and played a long ball through to Janette Griffiths Jones who despite being second best never gave up. From an acute angle she shot and scored a fantastic goal to extend Andover's lead.
Haslemere never gave up and Dana Shelley in the Andover goal had to make two vital saves towards the end of the game to keep her team leading.
Andover know they must play as well as this next week as they face second place Southampton University next week.
