Andover Ladies 2nd XI beat 2nd place University last weekend in an end to end game which could have gone either way. The home side started the brightest and took an early lead when a pin point cross from Hannah Cowley was deflected high into the net by Bex Milton for her first goal for the club. Andover continued to press and doubled their lead shortly after. A fine run and cross from Emily Lord was slotted home by Carley Lambert for her second goal in two games.Andover needed to keep concentrating at the back. Dana Shelley made some fine saves in goal to keep the score line 2-0 at half time.
Andover were under a bit of pressure second half and had to reply on some determined defending to keep the university team out. Immy Collins had a great game in defence and was a threat going forward. As was Katie Evans. Bex Milton was a rock at the back as was Amie Bridge as they defended courageously for their team. Southampton pulled a goal back midway through the second half but Andover held their nerve to beat the team they lost heavily to at the start of the season.
The ladies are starting to gel as a team which bodes well for the rest of the second half of the season.
