Andover Ladies 3rd XI played their first game of the new year at home to Petersfield. Despite starting well, within 15 minutes Andover had conceded 3 easy goals from poorly defended short corners. However, these were against the run of play and Andover continued to attack well with Alice Goodridge and Sophia Kidd driving through the Petersfield defence. A fine through ball from Karlie Buckley found Charlotte King who slotted the ball into the corner of the goal. Shortly before half time a well struck corner by Ali Thomson brought Andover back into contention. Andover dominated the second half, playing cohesive attacking hockey and putting a rattled Petersfield under constant pressure. Picking up a pass Sarah Rose drove from the 25, successfully beating 2 players in the D before passing to player of the match, Charlotte King, who scored her second of the day bringing the score to 3-3. Solid tackling by Tiff Fish prevented the opposition from regaining momentum and Andover continued to press forward, narrowly missing on several occasions but were unable to find the net to emerge winners. This was a great effort by the Andover team coming back from being 3-0 down and bodes well for the second half of the season.
